Welcome to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. This video will walk you through the opening of an adversary proceeding. Once logged into cm/ecf, click on "adversary" on the blue bar, then go to "open an AP case". This screen will show the date filed and confirm that this is a complaint. Click "next". Enter the lead case number, then select the association type and click "next". This case is assigned to the Baton Rouge division and Judge Dodd based on the lead bankruptcy case 17-15. Click "next". Enter the last name or business name of the plaintiff you are representing, then click "search". Highlight the name and select it from the list. Choose the plaintiff's role in the bankruptcy case and click "submit". In the plaintiff selection, enter the last name or business name of the defendant, then enter the first name and click "search". Highlight the name and select it from the list. Choose the defendant's role in the bankruptcy case and click "submit". If there are multiple defendants, you will now enter the second defendant's last name or business name, then enter the first name and click "search". Highlight the name and select it from the list. Choose the second defendant's role in the bankruptcy case and click "submit". In the defendant's selection, select the primary nature of suit. You may also select additional natures of suit. Click "next". The "browse" button is where you attach the PDF to the electronic filing. Check the "browse" button, select the open avasara proceeding PDF, highlight that PDF, click "open", then click "next". Opening an avatara proceeding will prompt a filing fee.
